I’m a Catholic white guy who grew up in the ‘burbs, so I can’t relate to them in any way whatsoever, but I’ve always found myself eager to learn the stories of those who are – on paper, at least – different from myself. So to learn about all the backstory and behind the scenes stuff was fascinating. It’s too bad Eazy E had to go so soon, he was far from a model citizen, but in the realm of music he was special. Awesome film, it was a good insight to see how these guys came about and lived there lives. Last edited by loganross; at This movie is definitely one of my favourites that were released in Hey Ralph, I love your reviews!
PiratesCove and Dave Vaughn like this. BornSlippyZ and Dave Vaughn like this. It definitely presents some issues and talking points that are very much relevant today. Many memories of listening to SOC as a teenager. Definitely recommend this one, oscar-worthy or not. Thanks Ralph again for the awesome review. Straight Outta Compton Blu-ray Review. Very good movie, I think I learned a lot even though its a movie.

My wife’s not a bass fan, but she never asked me to turn it down. Ralph Potts likes this.

How Well Do the Straight Outta Compton Actors Resemble Their Real-Life Counterparts?
PiratesCove and Dave Vaughn like this. To me, they were one of the front runners of gangsta rap and not just a hip hop group. I missed this in the theaters and I have been looking forward to catching it at home.

I saw gg movie opening weekend in the theater and purchased the Blu Ray yesterday. I hadn’t heard the band, but we were boys in high school, and so many of us ran out and bought their self-entitled album. Considering the number of mega albums that the Shocklee brother’s produced for so many artists, it would have been neat to learn a little more.

Let’s just say I will absolutely make it a point to watch this film and enjoy it for whatever it is. So to learn about all the backstory and behind the scenes stuff was fascinating. It would have been interesting to know more about how “Beats Music” came to be, considering how much Apple paid for the company recently. I thought the audio sounded great, not low, but very live sounding. Not sure how or why Mad Max was given a nomination. Page 1 of 2. Finally, I know each of them have “given back” to the community.
Loved the music and sounds awesome in the room, the subs cranked!!
Last edited by loganross; at Ralph Potts is online now. Movie should have been nominated for Best Picture. Regarding listening levels, I generally listen at right around from Reference depending on the track, sometimes higher. If the oufta track in the movie is excellent and extensive, I could see how this may be a purchase.
I thought I was watching Cube; can’t believe how much he looks like his dad. Many of our police are simply too aggressive against its citizens and instead of serving and protecting, many treat citizens as adversaries; not all, but many. They should have highlighted that.
One of the best movies of the year, for sure. Definitely recommend this one, oscar-worthy or not.
Picked this up today but will watch tomorrow night. I didn’t watch the unrated, but I will view it for sure. Another movie could be made about Public Enemy and Shocklee brothers. Pioneer VSX subs:
